Under Utah's new regulations, children and teens will need parental consent to open a social media account. The law will also give parents full access to the minor’s account.

Spencer Cox signed two bills on Thursday aimed at regulating how and whenOne of the bills, SB152, will require social-media companies to verify that users are at least 18 years old to open an account as of March 1, 2024. Those under age 18 will need the consent of a parent or guardian to open an account. The law will also give parents full access to the minor’s account.
