“We’re the best right now,” Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle said. “That’s history. That’s in the history book. So now we got to work on what are we going to do for next year.”
“They’re very good. But you still have more to do. You see it every day. You walk in this morning and there’s five things on your desk, things that you really want to get done, that you really need to do. There are things to be revisited that we’ve done in the past that we need to get better at in the future.
Instead, the celebration was more muted – Battle commended the community as a whole for the achievement and acknowledged that, as he said, there was a certain validation that came with being No. 1. At the same time, the mayor observed being No. 1 was a sort of snapshot in time and there would be other snapshots in the future.“We’re the best right now,” Battle said. “That’s history. Huntsville scored a 7 out of 10 in the ratings, faring best when it came to housing affordability and job market. “We have been underpinned by a tremendous amount of work out at Redstone Arsenal and they are kind of the jewel of what we have here. And so from an aerospace and defense standpoint, we continue to try to bring great talent into the city. And things like this are going to help tremendously in that.
