City of Greater Sudbury Maintains Vale Property for FreeCity of Greater Sudbury Maintains Vale Property for FreeThe City of Greater Sudbury has been maintaining Vale property in Levack without charge. However, Vale has shown a lack of investment in the community despite profiting from its resources. When requesting permission to use the Levack lawns for a Canada Day event, the city discovered that most of the greenspace in downtown Levack belongs to Vale. The city was told to seek permission from Vale, but the request was ignored for two months. Just three days before the event, Vale demanded $5 million in liability coverage, traffic studies, and signage if people were to sit on their lawns. This raises the question of why the city is responsible for mowing and maintaining Vale property.
