University of Houston football position analysis: Defensive line
Sedrick Williams is one of the top returnees on a UH defensive line that saw some of its best players depart in the offseason.Sixth in a position-by-position series looking at the 2023 Houston Cougars after spring workouts.Nelson Ceaser, junior; Chidozie Nwankwo, junior; Sedrick Williams, senior; Ndame Tucker, junior; Zykeius Strong, junior; Jamaree Caldwell, senior; Garfield Lawrence, sophomore; Anthony Holmes Jr.
Ceaser will be joined on the edge by David Ugwoegbu, an All-Big 12 selection and second-leading tackler at Oklahoma last season who will shift from linebacker to a pass-rush role. With the move to the Big 12, coach Dana Holgorsen expects to use Ceaser and Ugwoegbu on the field at the same time, particularly in third-down situations.
