The deal for the planes, which are to be delivered between 2024 and 2032, is the largest widebody aircraft order made by a U.S. carrier, the companies said. United also plans to order 100 Boeing 737s. In all, the carrier said plans to add about 700 planes to its fleet between now and 2032. The new 787s will replace existing widebody aircraft with planes that are more fuel-efficient and cost-efficient as it expands is global network. The airline has added 40 new international routes over the past two years, and now serves 56 international destinations from IAH, one of its hubs.
