Billboard premieres Underground Lovers' 'Hooky' music video
today premieres the music video forFilmed and edited by Sean T Barnes from an original concept by founding bandmates Glenn Bennie and Vincenzo Giarrusso, the kaleidoscopic clip captures the band rehearsing late one night at the Melbourne Town Hall. There’s not a soul around, but you could cut the energy with a knife. "Hooky” is about “male friendship/tension and the pressure that guys have existing in a competitive world,” Giarrusso tells.
The initial inspiration for the song was a riff that came to us after we saw ‘Hooky’ play in Melbourne last year and we built on that riff in the studio."dropped Oct. 11, some 30 years after the Melbourne outfit recorded their debut single “Round & Round.”Formed in 1989 by high school friends Bennie and Giarrusso, "The Undies," as they’re affectionately known in these parts, took out the 1992 ARIA Award back for best new talent.
