Far from turning into a mainstream cuisine, this distinctive Southeast Asian food is nevertheless injecting a new dimension into Istanbul’s ever-expanding culinary experience

She eventually earned their love and trust, practically becoming a second mother to the family’s grade school-aged daughter, whom she looked after almost since birth.
