Several bodies were found huddled in groups near televisions. Pentagon workers were apparently watching the carnage taking place at the World Trade Center when the hellish scene on TV became reality for them, too. On a second floor, right next to where the jet sheared off a section of the building, was an undisturbed stool. And on it was a thick, open book.
A book did remain relatively unscathed in an office in a heavily-damaged section of the Pentagon, but theaccount was inaccurate, a single-source, second-hand anecdote based on wishful thinking. Other on-scene news crews such as CNN reported that the book was a dictionary, as verified for us by a reader who went back and reviewed the tape of that day's news:
