Utah 's new flag was celebrated by elected officials and community members as a huge version was unfurled at the state capitol on March 9, 2024.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox released a statement regarding the recent discovery of Denver covering the travel costs to send migrants to Utah. So far, the city has financially assisted in sending roughly 2,000 migrants to Utah. Concern has risen over the lack of capacity for this population in Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County.
"We recently learned that the Democrat mayor of Denver has been sending illegal immigrants to Utah without proper notification or approval," Governor Cox stated in part. "This is completely unacceptable and follows on the failed catch-and-release policy of the Biden administration.", with comments from Salt Lake City Police Chief Mike Brown regarding the agency's ongoing efforts to control the situation that went unknown for some time.
"We recently learned that the Democrat mayor of Denver has been sending illegal immigrants to Utah without proper notification or approval. This is completely unacceptable and follows on the failed catch-and-release policy of the Biden administration. Every state has received illegal immigrants and Utah’s resources are completely depleted. All 50 states, including Utah, are now border states due to the failed immigration policies of President Biden and Congress.
