Continuing his"state of the nation" address, Mr Putin goes on to accuse Ukraine of starting the war - marking the first time he has referred to the conflict as a war and not a"special military operation". Many Western nations have also placed harsh sanctions on Russia, its oligarchs and its companies in relation to the war. Western leaders were discussing the supply of nuclear weapons to Ukraine before Russia's"special military operation" began a year ago, Vladimir Putin claims.NATO were setting up military bases and biological laboratories on Russian borders, he says.
It should be noted that these claims are unfounded and Ukraine insists Russia is waging a war against the country, and it wants to remain a country independent of Moscow.
