Speaking to Sky News, Mr Kirby said the M1 Abrams tanks would support Ukraine as the fighting"evolves". Dozens of modern battle tanks are to be sent to Ukraine to bolster the fight against Vladimir Putin's invasion, ending weeks of diplomatic deadlock over the supply of armour to the country. The IOC said in a statement today:"Governments must not decide which athletes can participate in which competition and which athletes cannot."
The IOC added that would mean:"Those who have not acted against the peace mission of the IOC by actively supporting the war in Ukraine could compete. Second, only athletes who fully comply with the World Anti-Doping Code and all relevant anti-doping rules and regulations would be eligible. There must be individual checks carried out for all entered athletes."
"They also welcomed the continued humanitarian and economic support for Ukraine in the wake of ongoing indiscriminate and barbaric Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure.Supporting Ukraine is a 'worldwide commitment', Biden says "Secretary Austin has recommended this step because it will enhance Ukraine's capacity to defend its territory and achieve strategic objectives.
"Supporting Ukraine's ability to fight off Russian aggression, to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity is a worldwide commitment," he adds.The US has confirmed it will send 31 M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine in its continued support of Ukraine in its war against Russia.
