Counterterror police seek clues in the deadly London stabbings that left two people dead and three injured.

4 min readThe suspect was wrestled to the ground by bystanders before being shot dead by police, who said that a device believed to be a hoax explosive was strapped to the suspect.

Basu said the suspect appeared to be wearing a bomb vest but it turned out to be “a hoax explosive device." Police said they were treating the stabbings as a terrorist attack and were not actively looking for other suspects. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he had"long argued" that it was a"mistake to allow serious and violent criminals to come out of prison early.” He said extra police patrols on the streets would be added “for reassurance purposes.”

Britain’s Parole Board said in a statement it had no role in releasing Khan, who “appears to have been released automatically on license , without ever being referred to the board,” it said.Dec. 12. The main political parties suspended campaigning in London as a mark of respect. Minutes after the stabbings, witnesses saw a man with a knife being wrestled to the ground by members of the public on the bridge before officers shot him dead.

She said the man"pulled his coat back which showed that he had some sort of vest underneath, whether it's a stab vest, or some sort of explosive vest, the police then really quickly moved backwards, away.”
