Houston volleyball clinches share of American Athletic Conference championship
TAMPA, Fla. — The University of Houston volleyball team clinched a share of the American Athletic Conference championship with a 3-1 victory over South Florida on Wednesday afternoon.
The fifth league title in program history is the first for UH since joining the AAC in 2013. The No. 22 Cougars' most recent conference championship had come in 1999, when they were in Conference USA. Next season, UH will compete in the Big 12. Abbie Jackson led UH with a match-high 24 digs while Morgan Janda had a match-best 24 assists and Kate Georgiades paced both teams with 24 digs, her third consecutive match with 20 or more.
The Cougars will close the regular season at 4 p.m. Friday against No. 23 Central Florida in Orlando.
