The University of Houston has raised $50 million in pledges and outright donations in the 11 months since the launch of the Houston Rise campaign, the school announced Tuesday.when it launched in June 2022“We’re extremely grateful to those who have answered the call and supported the Houston Rise campaign,” UH vice president for athletics Chris Pezman said in a statement. “As we inch closer to July 1, we feel the increased excitement and interest from our fans.
Nearly 900 new members have joined the Cougar Pride Athletic Fund, the main fundraising arm for the school’s athletic department, since the two-year campaign launched, the school said. “Participation, regardless of form, is the lifeblood of the Houston Rise campaign,” said John Gladchuk, UH’s senior associate athletics director for development. “We have heard people say that they don’t feel the little they can do will make a difference. Our response is all participation matters … everything counts.”
Early contributions to the Rise campaign have been earmarked for new construction and upgrades to athletic facilities, among the top projects the Football Operations Center, Guy V. Lewis Development Center and revitalization of the Athletics-Alumni Center.
