Uber shares opened at $42 in their trading debut, down from their $45 IPO price, giving the company a valuation of about $77 billion
Uber Technologies Inc. lurched onto the public markets Friday, starting the next chapter for a company that broke private financing records, changed the way the world thinks about transportation and rewrote the startup playbook.
The ride-hailing company’s stock opened at $42 on the New York Stock Exchange, compared with its IPO price of $45, giving the company a valuation of roughly $77 billion.
