Over 6,000 Haitians and other migrants have been expelled from an encampment at the border while officers up efforts to prevent more from entering the U.S.
and Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz both said that they saw nothing immediately wrong in the footage and photos of the alleged incident between agents and migrants.
Thousands of migrants are camped around a bridge by the river, and many are being transported from the U.S. as part of one of the swiftest and most large-scale migrant expulsion efforts in recent decades. In what Mayorkas called a"challenging and heartbreaking situation," over 6,000 Haitians and other migrants have been expelled from the encampment while Border Patrol ups efforts to prevent more from entering the U.S.U.S.
He also said the U.S. would increase the pace and capacity of flights to Haiti and other countries in the hemisphere. The number of migrants at the bridge peaked at 14,872 on Saturday, said Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, a labor union that represents agents.
