A shooting involving the U.S. Marshals Service happened in Flagstaff during a joint operation with state and federal law enforcement, the Flagstaff Police Department says.

Flagstaff PD was not involved in this incident but was on the scene to help with temporary street closures between 6th Avenue and Colanthe Street on Izabel Street. "Deputies were involved in a multi-agency enforcement operation and were attempting to arrest the subject when a handgun was produced. Deputies fired at the subject, striking him. Life saving measures were attempted; however, the suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene. No officers or civilians were injured during this incident," the U.S. Marshals Service said.It's not clear what led up to the shooting and the suspect hasn't been identified.
