Three sources told the Associated Press that soldiers in North Carolina and New York were ready for an order to deploy.

U.S. military police could be sent to George Floyd protests in Minneapolis under a law not used since the Rodney King riots, the Associated Press reported.

Three unnamed sources told AP that the soldiers from Fort Bragg and Fort Drum were expected to be ready for deployment within four hours of receiving an order to deal with the ongoing protests in Minneapolis. Under the terms of the law, the president has the power to deploy American troops in any state to suppress"any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy."

As some protests over the Monday killing of Floyd, an unarmed black man being detained by police officers, turned violent in Minneapolis, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz ordered 500 National Guard troops into the area.
