Just as they had never faced a three-game losing streak, the Stars had also never put together four straight wins. They climbed towards the top of the Central Division and Western Conference without streaks, and instead with steadiness. In the third period, Lundkvist’s innocent-looking shot after a Roope Hintz faceoff win went through traffic, including through Forsberg. After Matt Murray delivered a goaltending performance for the ages for Toronto, Forsberg presented the opposite.
On a related note, it meant Dallas had not won beyond regulation since it won 15 overtime games last season. “He could have easily had three goals last game in the first period,” Stars coach Pete DeBoer said. “The game before, I think he had six shots. So it’s coming. He’s just got to stick with it.”
