He stopped and exited the vehicle, noting a dark-coloured sedan parked in front of the school bus. A lone male stood outside the car, speaking to someone in the driver's seat. As the officer approached, the vehicle pulled away and the male entered the school bus. The sedan turned around and attempted to strike the officer two more times. The officer took cover behind the bus and the sedan fled. RCMP and Truro Police Service attempted to locate the sedan to no avail.The officer was seriously injured but has since been discharged from the hospital and is recovering at home.
The Miramichi Police Force arrested a 15-year-old male youth at a train station in Miramichi. He was then transported to Nova Scotia and turned over to the Colchester County District RCMP, where he was held in custody.
