Truro Police Service were called to an incident at CEC on Oct. 23 at 10:30 a.m. According to a statement released by the, police were called to break up a fight between a small group of students in front of the school.
When the student refused to leave, the officer attempted to arrest them. In a release from the Truro Police Service, they stated a second student interfered and assaulted the police officer. When the officer lifts himself off the student, the student appears to be unconscious. Other students could be heard screaming.Truro Police Chief Dave MacNeil responded to the video, stating it showed only a portion of the altercation.
“This is a very unfortunate event,” MacNeil added. “Our preference is always to resolve incidents without force, especially when dealing with youth. We are not taking this incident lightly.”
