The two fled onto the Atlantic City Expressway Friday afternoon after refusing to pull over, according to police.
Two 14-year-olds were arrested last week after a stolen vehicle overheated while they fled from Atlantic City police, officials said.Atlantic City policeThe car became disabled shortly after the driver refused to pull over on the 1200 block of Drexel Avenue at about 2:20 p.m. on Thursday, Atlantic City police said. Police stopped pursuing the speeding vehicle after it got on the Expressway but officers resumed the chase after they saw it experiencing trouble and slowing down.
“Officers learned that this stolen vehicle had a history of overheating if driven at certain speeds,” police said. The driver had four USB cables and two screwdrivers in his possession. He was also found to have an active warrant for his arrest. The passenger was in possession of a screwdriver. Both items are commonly used in the theft of certain Kia and Hyundai car models.
Both Atlantic City residents were charged with receiving stolen property, possession of burglar tools, resisting arrest, eluding, obstruction of justice, conspiracy and criminal mischief, police said.
