Twitter is defending an employee whose 2016 and 2017 tweets criticizing President Trump came under scrutiny after Twitter appended a fact check message to false tweets by the President.
Twitter's move on Tuesday was the first time the company had put such a message on the President's tweets directly, and Yoel Roth, Twitter's head of site integrity, rapidly became the subject of backlash and allegations that he was ultimately responsible for appending the message to the President's tweets.
