ICYMI: The Twelve Baskets Food Bank in Nictaux has a tasty fundraiser lined up for March 17. Read all about it here.

The Twelve Baskets Food Bank in Nictaux is holding a fundraiser on March 17 with roast beef and creamed lobster on the menu. FILE PHOTONICTAUX, N.S. — A Middleton area food bank is hoping the community will support an upcoming fundraiser that aims to help keep the shelves stocked.

Co-ordinator Sylvester Atkinson, Middleton’s mayor, said he believes volunteering with the local food bank is important. He said anyone’s child or family could end up experiencing hunger at any given time. It’s important for those who can afford to help others in need to do so. Considering inflation and other economic pressures, Atkinson said the level of need in the area is increasing. He said the last time he spoke with the board chairperson about it, the food bank was regularly helping approximately 100 families in Middleton and the surrounding area.

Atkinson said there is a limited number of tickets available, 60 for the creamed lobster dinner and 60 for the roast beef dinner. He said the prices are reasonable, $30 for the creamed lobster and $25 for the roast beef.
