Texas Southern quarterback Andrew Body, passing against Rice last year, missed the spring game to make sure he was healthy for fall.For the second straight spring, quarterback Andrew Body did not participate in football-related activities. He is making sure his right-throwing shoulder that was dislocated in the season finale is completely healed for the fall.“We know what he can do,” McKinney said. “We’re trying to find the guy we can put in the game if something happens to him.

“What we saw today was our second and third-string guys showing that they deserve an opportunity,” McKinney said. “There’s competition at each position. Our younger guys, the guys that aren’t used to playing as much, came out and competed. McKinney singled out defensive tackle Rolland Trent and receiver Eyan Means as having an outstanding spring. Running back Da’Veon Ford and Goynes also had a productive camp.

As far as receivers, Body mentioned Means , Derek Morton, Randy Masters and Savion Sims as players to keep an eye on.TSU’s 2023 season kicks off against Prairie View A&M on Sept. 2 at Shell Energy Stadium.
