President Donald Trump heads to Michigan this week to tour a factory that started making ventilators to respond to the covonavirus pandemic in the U.S.
His recent trips to Arizona and Pennsylvania to tour medical supply facilities attracted supporters who lined the streets as his motorcade passed and held impromptu rallies in parking lots. His campaign music has been played at the events and he's not shied away from taking aim at his political foes. In Pennsylvania, he mocked likely Democratic rival for president as"Sleepy Joe Biden.
The Trump administration has spent recent weeks touting efforts to encourage increased production of ventilators, which have been critical for people who suffer complications from COVID-19, and other badly needed medical supplies, including N95 masks and hospital gowns. In the early days of the pandemic, health experts raised alarms that there could be a deadly shortage of equipment.
