The Trump administration announced that it was restricting entry for travelers from Brazil, which has become a hotspot for coronavirus cases
The Trump administration on Sunday announced that it was restricting entry for travelers from Brazil, which ranks only behind the United States in the number of coronavirus cases, according to a Johns Hopkins University database.
“The potential for undetected transmission of the virus by infected individuals seeking to enter the United States from the Federative Republic of Brazil threatens the security of our transportation system and infrastructure and the national security,” Trump wrote. The White House announcement comes after days of speculation. Earlier Sunday, national security adviser Robert O’Brien said that there would likely be a decision to impose travel restrictions on Brazil.
