Mississauga-Streetsville MP Valdez won her Toronto-area riding with a safe 13-per-cent margin over the Conservatives in 2021, but Enns says the new small business minister’s riding is going to be a hot spot in the next election.Article content Parkdale-High Park MP Virani, the new minister of justice, held off the NDP in 2021 by fewer than 2,000 votes, and just over 1,000 votes in 2015. His 2019 lead of 9,000 votes was the Liberals’ high mark since taking the Toronto riding away from the NDP.
“A number of the seats that they identified were actually kind of those NDP-Liberal swing seats. I think they definitely feel they can’t give any of that back in the next election, so I think they may have tried to find some individuals that they’re going to raise their profile in some close seats,” he said.
