Dong responded to the allegations himself on Monday, releasing a statement online saying he had done nothing wrong. Trudeau responded Monday to mounting calls for a public inquiry into allegations of Chinese interference in both the 2021 and 2019 elections. Trudeau said he welcomed the scrutiny Canadians want on how elections are run.
The Liberals brought in a process ahead of the 2019 election that sees a panel of senior public servants review attempted foreign interference during campaigns and make decisions about whether to alert the public or political parties about the process.Article content
