Tropical Storm Hermine is not expected to threaten the U.S., but forecasters are watching a system in the central Caribbean that could be named Ian.

It was widely thought that the Caribbean storm would be the next named system, and the next name on the list was Hermine. Hermine had 40 mph winds on Friday and was located about 290 miles northeast of the Cabo Verde Islands. Forecasters said Hermine could strengthen some but then begin to weaken over the weekend and become a remnant low on Monday while still far from the U.S. in the eastern Atlantic.
