Alaska State Troopers are searching for a 69-year-old woman after her 2-year-old grandson was found in a car Thursday near Healy.they got a report around 1:30 a.m. about an abandoned car about 6.8 miles out on the Stampede Road with a child locked inside.
“From evidence at the scene it appears that the child and vehicle were abandoned two days earlier on July 12,” said an online troopersTrooper says the child appeared to be in good health and was turned over to the state Office of Children’s Services. Troopers are searching the area for the child’s grandmother: 69-year-old Mary Dawn Wilson, who is the last person known to be with the child. They’re asking anyone who knows anything about her whereabouts to contact troopers in Fairbanks at 451-5100 or you can submit a tip anonymouslyThe Stampede Road heads west off the Parks Highway at mile 251. The first four miles are paved, the second four are dirt and gravel, after which it deteriorates into a trail.
