Pensioners will now be nearly £1,000 a year better off after the Prime Minister has once again committed to the triple lock.
The triple lock pension commitment means pensions should rise by the highest of three figures: average earnings, 2.5 per cent or inflation., the second time it has reached double-digit figures this year. Those on the old basic state pension will see an increase from £141.85 to £156.20 – a £746.20 annual hike.
