CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — To celebrate Treaty Day and mark the beginning of Mi’kmaq History Month, the chiefs of the Mi’kmaq First Nations joined P.E.I.
Premier Dennis King Oct. 1 at the provincial administration building courtyard in Charlottetown to raise the Mi’kmaq Grand Council flag, which will fly during October.
She also said Mi'kmaq History Month is a time to share stories, traditions and heritage with the world. “As we gather to celebrate Treaty Day and kick off Mi'kmaq History Month, we honour the enduring spirit of our ancestors who forged the treaties that continue to bind us to this land,” he said.
