Tre Odoms-Dukes set to step into the Calgary Stampeders' spotlight CFL
“Last year he got in for four or five games but to be the opening-day starter, there’s a different expectation level,” said Stamps receivers coach Nik Lewis. “Having been here, I’ve always felt that having a solid receiving corps, you need at least three guys who can go out there and get it.and Clark and Cole and everybody else that’s on the roster. We’re going to continue to push each other, because the best way to have the best corps is to push each other.
The Stamps are hoping for more in 2023 and while many people did expect Odoms-Dukes to wind up as a starter, it’s worth noting that he needed to compete with a number of other players at training camp to earn his spot. “He showed good leadership. I know he’s a worker and I think his game obviously needs to improve, but it is improving and that comes from playing time.”
Asked whether he’d set statistical goals for the season, Odoms-Dukes smiled and said that he’d keep those to himself.“I put so much pressure on myself,” Odoms-Dukes said. “I don’t know, the external stuff doesn’t matter to me. It’s more me, myself and how I attack the defences.”given that they also squared off last week in both teams’ second pre-season game.
