Travis McMichael is headed to a second trial for the 2020 shooting of Ahmaud Arbery after he withdrew his guilty plea on a federal hate crime charge Friday.

McMichael withdrew his plea after a U.S. District Court judge rejected the terms of the plea agreement. McMichael and his father, Greg McMichael, had planned to plead guilty to a hate crime charge in exchange for a 30-year sentence, the Associated Press reported. The McMichaels were convicted of murder in November in the state trial. Greg pleaded not guilty on Thursday. Jury selection for the hate crime trial will begin on Monday.Travis McMichael withdrew his guilty plea on Friday and is headed to trial for a hate crime charge in the shooting of Ahmaud Arbery.
