A Travis County judge on Thursday temporarily blocked the Texas Education Agency from releasing its annual A-F ratings.

District Judge Hon. Catherine Mauzy issued the temporary injunction on Thursday, October 26 at 4:46 p.m. after more than 100 school districts sued the education commissioner over the changes in how the scores will be calculated. The A-F ratings are based on multiple factors including graduation rates, the number of college, career, and military-ready students, and State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness results.

A press conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, October 27 on the front steps of the Travis County Courthouse at 1700 Guadalupe Street. Representatives of several school districts that filed suit against the TEA will make the following statement: On behalf of public school superintendents, boards of trustees, and all the students, teachers, and staff of the great state of Texas whom we serve, we are united here together on the steps of the Travis County Courthouse to announce that we are pleased with the judge’s ruling of the temporary injunction prohibiting the release of TEA’s A-F ratings for the 2022-2023 school year.
