As the holiday season is here, it’s natural to reflect on all which we are thankful for. For many of us, this includes family, friends, and the comfort of a stable home. However, this is not the reality for everyone.
Bithiah’s Family Services is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting women, children, and families in the foster care system. Bithiah’s efforts provide crucial support to a significant portion of this vulnerable population. Recently, I had the opportunity to ask their founders about the history and mission of this important organization.
Over the years, Bithiah’s has grown to offer a wide range of services, catering to the diverse needs of individuals involved in the foster care system. “Training and education have had a heavy influence on the services provided,” Michelle explains. Their parent reunification courses and support programs like connected parenting and de-escalation techniques are just a few examples of their comprehensive approach. Education expands further in reaching the community, corporate and personal donors and sponsors, and potential volunteers on how they can also help.
