Cultural performances and delectable delights will turn Burnaby Hall in Edmonds into a vibrant celebration on Saturday, Feb. 17.
Burnaby's Afro-Caribbean community is set to host a free event this weekend in honour of Black History Month, celebrating culture and envisioning the future.
The Alegria Soy Cultural and Community Society is inviting the public to an evening of vibrancy, and hope, at Burnaby Hall in Edmonds on Saturday, Feb. 17. A news release sent to the NOW explains the gathering will not only offer dinner and a show, but also an educational component on the pursuit of eliminating inequality, poverty and hunger.
"It's a call for change....Let's come together and create a society where everyone has equal opportunities and access to a better tomorrow.Entitled "Afro Caribbean Folklore Celebration," the night will feature a multitude of performances from dancers and artists.Alegria Soy has partnered with 17 different organizations to make the free celebration possible, set for Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m.
