The 44th awards contest honours excellence in print and digital visual storytelling, design and journalism that was produced in 2022. More than 2,700 entries in 11 categories were received from around the world, with the winners selected by 27 international judges.
The Star won three awards in the special coverage category and one award in the features cover category. All four Star winners earned an award of excellence, conferred to recognize “outstanding and excellent visual storytelling,” the Society for News Design said. “Granted for truly excellent work, going beyond mere technical or aesthetic competency. It honors outstanding entries for such things as being daring and innovative.
