The Buckeyes are HEAVILY favored against Toledo on Saturday night. More:
Saturday’s game also happens to be an all-Ohio affair and Columbus is just over a two hour drive south from Toledo. Ohio State has won 44 straight games against in-state opponents, but, of course, simply winning this one SU far from guarantees an ATS victory. As such, it is a comfort to know the Buckeyes are 3-0 both SU and ATS against in-state schools under Day.
Ohio State also looks to get a boost on the other side of the ball from the expected return of receivers Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Julian Fleming. The duo missed the majority of the team’s first two games, allowing Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka to blossom in their absence. In fact, even without both Smith-Njigba and Fleming, Ohio State boasts a passing attack that has posted nearly 300 yards per game through the air, good for a top-30 ranking.
This all may prove too much for Toledo, a team with a 7-12 ATS record outside the MAC and a troubling 2-8 ATS mark as road dogs over the last five years. The Rockets clearly prefer to operate against MAC bottom-feeders, as they are also just 2-6 ATS in their last eight games against teams with winning records and 1-5 ATS in their last six road games against teams with winning home records.
