GRIDLOCK ALERT ⚠️ Be prepared for a lot more traffic in NYC -
Today is the first of 14 days where the Department of Transportation expects the heaviest volume of traffic. They’re saying one way to help avoid that traffic is to take public transportation.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is encouraging New Yorkers to use some of the agency’s ongoing deals and discounts, like the OMNY tap and pay feature where after 12 rides in a week, you get free rides until Sunday. The anticipated heavy traffic is usually due to all the holiday travel in and around the city this time of year.
The Belt Parkway, for example, is expected to be the third busiest roadway, with a 77% increase in drivers during the holiday period, according to AAA.
