Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem arrived in theaters on August 2 and serves as a reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film series.
In animation, it is common for voice actors to work and record alone. However, Rogen recorded with Billy Eichner in The Lion King and felt the work they did together was so much funnier than if they'd recorded separately. Hence, the Turtles' voice actors recorded together and improvised nearly every scene, which resulted in some great jokes and onscreen chemistry.
"And then we brought it even further where we essentially had them improvise every scene. And we would create like a baseline of them just all kind of screaming at each other and talking over each other, and then we would, like, write jokes that were interjected into the chaos of them just all kind of yelling at each other."
