Tiger Woods said his right leg “will never be the same” after his 2021 car crash, but he thinks his endurance has improved as he gears up to play his 25th Masters. Woods will tee off Thursday in Group 12 at 10:18 a.m. ET.

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Tiger Woods said his right leg “will never be the same” after his 2021 car crash, but he thinks his endurance has improved as he gears up to play his 25th Masters.

“Mobility, it’s not where I would like it, but it’s — as I sit here, I’ve said to you guys before, I’m very lucky to have this leg; it’s mine. Yes, it had been altered and there’s some hardware in there, but it’s still mine. It has been tough and will always be tough. The ability and endurance of what my leg will do going forward will never be the same,” Woods told reporters Tuesday at a pre-tournament news conference.

“I think my endurance is better,” he said. “But aches a little bit more than it did last year just because at that particular time when I came back, I really had not pushed it that often. And I had a little window in which I did push it and was able to come back.” Woods’ 2022 Masters appearance marked his first PGA tournament since suffering serious leg injuries in the. The 47-year-old had open fractures in the upper and lower portions of his right leg, and additional injuries to his foot and ankle which required screws and pins to be inserted.

He was a surprise inclusion in the 2022 Masters field after his difficult recovery from the injuries. Woods, who finished 47th last year, appeared in pain many times as he walked the course.
