Alabama's played in hostile environments before. Sunday night's second-round game in the NCAA West Regional could be another one. Even though it's being played

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE - JANUARY 06: Head Coach Nate Oats of the Alabama Crimson Tide reacts to a call during the second half of the game between Alabama and Vanderbilt at Vanderbilt University Memorial Gymnasium on January 06, 2024 in Nashville, Tennessee.

This is what is kind of messed up about the NCAA Tournament. Alabama is the fourth-seeded team in the region. Yet, the winner of the game between 5th-seeded San Diego State and 12th-seeded Grand Canyon game would have a clear advantage in getting fans to Spokane over Crimson Tide fans, who have had to travel 2,300 miles to cheer on their team.

The Tide certainly gave a good effort Friday in the win over College of Charleston, scoring 109 points, a school record for points scored in an NCAA Tournament game. Mark Sears led the way with 30 points. “I think they've got too many athletes,” Oats said. “They're a really good team. Charleston was a good team, too, but Grand Canyon's level of athleticism is a lot different. They're one of the best rim-protecting teams in the country. They turn people over a lot. They play hard. They like to get up and down. Our guys obviously like to play a little up and down, as evidenced by the 109 points.
