The latest hit in the Taylor Swift 'Eras' tour saga: Ticketmaster has now canceled Friday's public sale 'due to extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet that demand.'
After many Taylor Swift fans complained of difficulties in purchasing tickets during a presale for her upcoming Eras tour, federal and state authorities are saying they want answers from Ticketmaster, the company that handled the sale. Ticketmaster is part of entertainment-industry giant Live Nation Entertainment LYV, -2.92%.
In a letter sent Wednesday to Live Nation Entertainment President Michael Rapino, U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Democrat from Minnesota, said that “Ticketmaster continues to abuse its market positions,” and noted that its dominance in the ticketing industry “insulates it from the competitive pressures that typically push companies to innovate and improve their services.”
Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti, a Republican, also said his office has concerns about Ticketmaster in light of the recent issues with the Taylor Swift presale.
