Thomas' Terri Simonetti Frost has been recognized as one of the National Federation of State High School Associations’ Coaches of the Year.

Thomas Worthington’s Terri Simonetti Frost was recognized last week as one of the National Federation of State High School Associations’ 23 National Coaches of the Year,Six of those have come under Simonetti Frost, who is 365-76-30 in 23 seasons with 13 state tournament appearances and three state runner-up finishes. She also was an NFHS National Coach of the Year in 2010.

Simonetti Frost is a 1989 graduate of Toledo Ottawa Hills and played at Boston University from 1989-92. “I truly believe a coach is someone who not only coaches the sport but also teaches them life lessons on leadership, respect, loyalty, hard work, communication and overcoming adversity,” Simonetti Frost said in a release announcing the award.

Despite graduating 10 players from its 2021 state runner-up team, Thomas went 19-2 last fall and edged two-time defending champion Watterson 3-2 in overtime in the state final. The NFHS honors coaches in the top 10 boys and girls sports, according to participation numbers, as well as a spirit coach and coaches in one more sport per gender that does not fall into the top 10. Field hockey is included in the latter group.
