The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier plaza, at Virginia's Arlington National Cemetery, is usually reserved for dignitaries and sentinels. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was dedicated three years after World War I ended, when a funeral was held for the site’s first unknown soldier on Nov. 11, 1921. President Warren Harding stood beside the casket.The remains were chosen by Army Sgt. Edward Younger, a decorated World War I veteran, from among four caskets transported from cemeteries in France, including the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery, pictured, according to Arlington National Cemetery.The U.S.
