The Success of 'National Lampoon's Animal House' Led to a Franchise When 1978's Animal House won fans over with their first taste of the National Lampoon style, it was tough to understand how a popular magazine publication could make such a huge jump to the big screen. However, the movie proved to capture the very humor and spirit the brand became successful with on publication shelves.
This made it a no-brainer for the National Lampoon franchise to zero in on the hit film when creating the satire based on it. For those who haven't seen the movie , 1993's National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1 presents a hilarious take on the buddy cop movie genre. When the film's lead detective Colt loses his partner to murder, he's focused on solving the case and avenging his partner's death. He pairs up with his new half, detective West Luger .

Deaths due to extreme heat at national parks increasing, data from the National Parks Service showsNational parks aficionados are making their annual summer pilgrimage to their favorite gateway to the great outdoors, but the extreme heat that has been plaguing much of the U.S. is making that trek more dangerous. Despite the unrelenting heat that has been breaking records all over the country -- especially the West -- people are still flocking to national parks, Cynthia Hernandez, public affairs specialist for the National Park Service, told ABC News.
