In the wake of the Mueller report, tensions between the White House and Congress are high. House Democrats have issued a number of subpoenas related to the Trump administration — a move that Post politics reportersays has dramatically escalated “tensions between the president and congressional Democrats — deepening a fight that may ultimately be resolved only by a protracted court battle.”
In an interview with The Post, Trump told Costa that he thinks it is unnecessary for aides to comply with congressional requests to testify. “There is no reason to go any further,” the president said over the phone, “and especially in Congress where it’s very partisan — obviously very partisan.”
