The pool table is a central part of Delirium, a bar on 16th Street at Albion in the Mission District since 2002.In the 2000s and early 2010s, if you had tattoos or brightly colored hair or tight jeans or stark eye makeup or facial piercings or liked loud rock 'n' roll or whiny emo music, chances are you spent some Friday and Saturday nights at Delirium in the Mission.
For years, the bathroom at Delirium was the kind of dank and fetid hellhole that only immunologists and dive bar patrons will ever fully appreciate. Potently foul-mouthed graffiti covered nearly inch of the wall, there were many nights where the door was missing from the toilet stall, and the entire chamber smelled like the drainage pipes were, at best, on furlough.
Yes, dear reader, I was just as flabbergasted as you are now when, one night in 2020 I popped by and saw the face-lift. So floored actually that I tweeted, Facebooked and Instagrammed about it multiple times. As you can see, byGiven the historic nature of this revelation, it was only fair that I checked in with the bar to learn what other things I’d missed, especially considering that this year is Delirium’s 20th anniversary.
